Frankenbutt Update
About 5 weeks after Timmy’s accident, his wound is healing very nicely. The stitches have been taken out, and the scar looks a lot less scary. Please excuse the ugly gloves! Fashion goes out the window at the barn.

exciting saturday
Got to the barn a little later than I planned and was going to turn Timmy out and then ride. Pretty normal for a Saturday. But as he was trotting away, there was a huge gash in his left haunch! Nasty hanging skin flap and everything. It didn’t really seem to bother him too badly, [...]
poco’s nose

rainy day
Raining this morning, so the lesson was indoors. Too bad, as I am just getting the hang of being brave and riding outside. Jumped two consecutive jumps, and it was fun!
blargh!
Today was marked by a horrible lesson in which I couldn’t canter at first and then when I did I was an arrhythmical bag of nerves. Maybe noting it here will help my poor brain go from 150 mph to its usual 110, still pretty fast, but livable.
duct tape hoof slipper
IMG_0065 Originally uploaded by flippybits Timmy has a hoof abcess, so the farrier fashioned an attractive slipper made of Vetwrap and duct tape. Hopefully, Timmy will be back in action next week after the abcess heals.
timmy, that handsome guy
DSC_0165 Originally uploaded by flippybits Finally, an easy way to add pics to the bloggie! Timmy usually looks quite a bit happpier. But it seems to have screwed up the lovely formatting. Will look into this.
blogging just doesn’t get any easier
Somehow updating the ol’ blog is right up there with keeping the area under the bed free of dust bunnies. That said, we had a good lesson today, working on cantering a small vertical at a decent pace. Of course, I had to work on both him and me to get anything resembling a pace. [...]
wow! jumping today for the first time in ages!
I knew it was going to be a jumping day because the flatwork went way too quickly. We trotted and cantered with changes of direction, and then she set up jump poles to trot across and then canter over! I did a little deep breathing, but everything was ok. And then we did a cross-rail, [...]
